======================================================= MPC Gram ====================================================== Vol 1 Number 58 July 5, 2000 News and Views Where have you been? Ok, I am the one who has been missing. Sorry. I went out of town for a holiday chess tournament. I intended to send grams from the hotel and participate in chat too, but as you probably know, I did neither. Sorry! Of course I have tons of things to disucss, but I can only start here now. One interesting thing in the mail is a beautiful catalog from John Pettit. It does not include a single piece of MPC, but it does include lots of interesting World War II/military items. You probably should request a copy of the catalog by writing John at jpettit@accsoft.com.au. The catalog does not state anything about request policies, but I think that if you ask, he will send you one. I suppose that you should mention that you read about his catalog in "The Gram." That ought to make him scratch his head! This catalog might generate some questions and/or comments for the gram. Certainly there are some notes therein on which I will be commenting in the days ahead. I played very poorly at the tournament and did not have ANY numismatic adventures along the way! That is a very unusualy occurance for me (the poor play was not the unusual part). I expect to be on chat tonight and look forward to seeing you there! ====================================================== Calendar In this section we will highlight MPC chat, MPC Fest, and MPC gram events. Other events will be mentioned as they get close. For planning purposes see the papermoneyworld.com calendar of events. The next major show is the American Numismatic Association Convention (August 9-13). This year the convention will be in Philadelphia. 25 years ago the ANA convention was one of the major events for paper money. Now with the development of so many successful paper money shows (and of course the MPC Fest), its importance has diminished, but it is still an important show. Because it is such a big and important show, you cannot help but find some good paper there. Marv Mericle has promissed that he is going to introduce some innovations there with his exhibit of MPC. I will be there the entire time and will be pleased to chat MPC with you! Chat tonight 10pm eastern. ==================================================== --------------------------------- please respond to this address or to fred@papermoneyworld.com --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?
